Dr. Zingore will address the challenges of low crop productivity and food insecurity in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). There are increasing investments to support smallholder farmers in intensified crop production, in particular by increasing fertilizer use. Sustainable crop production intensification in the region will depend on adaptation of 4R practices suitable for complex smallholder farming systems, a major focus of IPNI research and development activities in SSA.
