4R nutrient stewardship work featured at UNEP’s Global south to south development expo
The ongoing project on the promotion of effective 4R practices for SSA in Siaya County of Western Kenya has been featured as a case study http://www.unep.org/south-south-cooperation/case/casedetails.aspx?csno=113 during the ongoing global south to south development expo http://www.unep.org/south-south-cooperation/gssd/Default.aspx. The Expo has brought together high-level policymakers, solution providers, solution seekers and solution supporters at UNEP's Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, from 28 October-1 November. The aim of the expo is to showcase and exchange scalable, replicable and innovative South-South development solutions that have significant development impact on-the-ground.
This case study describes an approach to developing site specific nutrient management recommendations for smallholder systems in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) based on the 4R nutrient stewardship, and borrowing on the success in the implementation of a similar initiative in India under the IPNI South Asia program.
